About "Pillar of Strength"
(2 Timothy 1:7 and Revelations 3:12)

Fear is not a fun emotion to experience. I've tried hard to not have to deal with fear.   I've done everything I could to avoid it; but when I found myself in different situations that created fear in my mind and heart, I tried to hold on to the thought, ""For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7)

Those four words, "power," "love" and a "sound mind" epitomized words of strength to me; they were also words that embodied my Savior, Jesus Christ.  He's been the one sure foundation in my life; the "Pillar of Strength" I've always known I could lean on.

It was during one of those times in 1996 that this sweet song came about.

Lyrics to "PILLAR OF STRENGTH"

1.  A pillar of strength is my Savior!  Firm in His deed and His word.
We are but children, striving to follow the footsteps of our Lord.
With gentleness so majestic, He leads as we follow behind.
Giving us courage to conquer our fears; helping us truth to find.

CHORUS:
We will be a pillar of strength. Firm in the truths that we find.
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

2.  A pillar of strength is my Savior!  Firm in His deed and His word.
We are but children, striving to follow the footsteps of our Lord.
A pillar of strength we're becoming, for we are all children of God.
The power's within us when we choose the right and hold to the iron rod.

CHORUS
