About "Be Still"
(Psalm 46:10)

In September of 1998, Oprah Winfrey had a guest on one of her shows that was struggling to find inner peace. The guest made the comment that with so many voices in her head (her parents, her family, herself, her friends, the world in general), she wasn't sure which voice to follow.  Oprah said something like, "Those are the voices of the world. You need to be still and listen to that voice inside you; the voice that gives you peace."

When Oprah spoke about the voices of the world and being still, I knew another song was about to come to me.  After the show, I went to the piano and began plunking out different chords and melodies.  It wasn't long before "Be Still" was completed.

Lyrics to "BE STILL"

When the voices of the world come crashing through your mind (be still);
And it's pain and hurt you feel from someone who's unkind (be still);
And the world continues to be rushed and have no time (be still);
Then you must slow down, my child, to know that you are mine (be still).

CHORUS:  Be still!  (be still)  Be still!  (be still)
                  Just hold onto the rod.
                  Be still!  (be still)  So still!  (oh, so still)
                  And know that I am God.

Voices everywhere, confusion in the air, be still! (be still);
When it's love that heals but it's pain you feel, be still! (be still);
When you really want to know with all your heart God's real (He's real);
Then to you, my busy friend, I say, "Be still!" (be still).

CHORUS:  Be still!  (be still)  Be still!  (be still)
                  Just hold onto the rod.
                  Be still!  (be still)  So still!  (oh, so still)
                  And know that I am God.
                 Just know that I am God!
